Belo Horizonte, Brazil – May 14, 2026 – Professor Henrique Napoleão Alves, Director of the Facts and Norms Institute, successfully concluded his lectures on May 12 and 13, 2026, for an exclusive class of 43 students, comprising judges, judicial assessors, and appellate judges from the State Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) and the Regional Federal Court of the 6th Region (TRF6).

At the invitation of CEDIN (Center of International Law), he acted as a guest professor for Module 1 of the course “Contemporary International Law: Applied Judicial Training.” This academic and institutional initiative is promoted by CEDIN, which was founded by H.E. Dr. Leonardo Nemer Caldeira Brant, current Judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and is presided over by Dr. Joice Costa Nemer Caldeira Brant.

During the two virtual sessions, Prof. Henrique Napoleão Alves covered the "Inter-American Human Rights System and Conventionality Control." The syllabus comprised the jurisdiction of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, contentious and advisory procedures, and the admissibility of cases.

On the second day of classes, Prof. Alves focused on Conventionality Control, detailing its fundamentals, modalities, and practical application by national judges. The dialogue between Courts and the complex relationship between the Federal Constitution, international treaties, and international jurisprudence were also prominent topics, equipping the 43 legal professionals with practical and theoretical tools to substantiate their judicial decisions.

Both lectures were taught in Portuguese. The in-company course, broadcast live, reinforces the ongoing commitment of Brazilian judicial institutions to international legal updates and the protection of human rights, relying on the expertise of guest professors with recognized and distinguished careers.
