Dinis. The modern University of Lisbon results from the merger of the former University of Lisbon, created in 1911, with the Technical University of Lisbon, created in 1930.

It is the largest Portuguese university in terms of student numbers and budget. In the 2017 edition of the Shanghai Ranking, it was ranked among the 200 best universities in the world!

The present Course in Lisbon is the second winter course that FNI will hold in Portugal.
The first Course took place between January 30th and February 2nd, 2024, in Coimbra, and it was a success!
This motivated the new initiative, this time in conjunction with the University of Lisbon, to be held in the beautiful Portuguese capital.

The City of Lisbon

* We recommend that the video be watched in high resolution by adjusting the settings.

The city of Lisbon welcomes its visitors in a hospitable, friendly, and welcoming way. Lisbon is a city that enchants those who visit it.

With over 20 centuries of history, the Portuguese capital is located on the Tagus River. With almost constant sunshine, its unique beauty and architectural singularity are acclaimed beyond its borders.

Rich in monuments, typical neighborhoods (Baixa Pombalina, Belém, Bairro Alto, Chiado, Bica, Alfama, and Mouraria), riverside areas, Fado houses, parks, gardens, and viewpoints, Lisbon offers several possibilities to discover, visit and enjoy the city's vast natural, historical and cultural heritage.

Monuments such as the Medieval Castle of São Jorge, the Medieval Cathedral, the Belém Tower, the Jerónimos Monastery, the National Pantheon, Praça Terreiro do Paço, and Baixa are some of Lisbon's tourist attractions that fascinate thousands of visitors from all over the world.

Lisbon's gastronomy is heavily influenced by its proximity to the sea. Thus, the typical Lisbon specialties are codfish fritters, fried vegetables, grilled sardines on bread (mainly at the Popular Saints festival, which takes place during June). The famous Bife à Café is also considered a food "ex-libris" of the capital. The most famous sweet in Lisbon is the traditional Pastel de Nata, made in an old factory in the parish of Belém, better known as Pastel de Belém.

Lisbon is an unforgettable destination for anyone who wants to have a unique experience of university life, hospitality, gastronomy, tradition, history, modernity, culture, and leisure.

Join us on this enriching academic journey in the historic and beautiful city of Lisbon!
